Challenge:

Contamination by hydrocarbons, heavy metals and acid compounds, a site classified as one of the most contaminated in Western Europe requiring drastic decontamination.

Solutions:

  • Excavation of 2,2M m3 of soil, rehabilitation of waste tip areas & industrial lagoons.
  • On site soil treatment by bioremediation & thermal desorption (designed, constructed & operated by SARPI Remediation).
  • Full on site material recovery except few concentrated spots.
  • Groundwater treatment, river diversion & rehabilitation.
  • Organisation: JV with VolkerStevin & DEC, 40 specialists on site.
